german producer christian burkhardt teams up with fellow countrymen chris wood & meat for a three-track release on jamie jones hottrax this may. burkhardt has been flying the flag for minimalist electronic music for a decade now, releasing on labels such as cocoon, oslo and pressure traxx. likewise, freebase records founders meat + chris wood have been purveying deep and minimal cuts individually since the ‘00s, joining forces in 2009 before releasing on labels like desolat, housewax and tiefschwarz souvenir. between the three of them theyve continually garnered support from the upper echelons of house and techno, making regular appearances in the sets of names like ricardo villalobos, sven väth, seth troxler and jamie jones. intricate percussion and a compelling bassline make up the foundation of closer 2 u as an echoing vocal and tense strings operate throughout. meanwhile, plain is a more downtempo cut in comparison with its dusky atmospherics and distorted spoken word samples that subtly permeate throughout the mix. on the flip, trumpad is deep and dubby whilst integrating trippy synths and mesmerizing effects for a rhythmic conclusion.

italian producer alfredo mazzilli presents us with logical strength, his second ep on weekend circuit. across 4 tracks he expresses his own unique take on the deepest strains of techno and it s outer reaches. ep opener logical strength is a throbbing piece of driving, menacing wormhole music with heavy arpeggiated sounds and rock solid, incessant drum-programming, leaving nothing standing in it s wake it is a firm statement of intent. nuvole sees the pace change slightly, adopting more of an eerie, borderline hallucinatory feel. the track unfolds beautifully with heavenly pads and synth swells draped across some tribally infused drums. on side 2 we have a stellar remix of nuvole from eminent swedish producer evigt mörker who travels a more subdued, sedate path with his interpretation. finishing off this 4 track excursion we are drawn into the beatless, introspective terrain of parhelion . a beautifully nuanced and subtle way to close things. washes of synth and atmosphere embrace us as we travel onwards, deeper into the night. alfredo mazzilli shows us once again his own individual and unique style on this ep, another essential chapter in the weekend circuit story.

caught london sleeping kick things off with four moody electro excursions from stratowerx. edging towards the darker side of the realm the london based producer uncompromisingly serves up an ep (backed with a remix from electro stalwart sync24) of raw electro and techno cuts for the dance floor.

following on from the very robust debut of his own label failsafe, juxta position deviates back to the more melancholic aesthetic with which he initially made his mark back in 2013 on mistress recordings. drawing palpable influence from ambient electronica like boards of canada, he then reframes the aesthetic, with the help of rhythmic anchoring, on the 12 minute opening opus eureka. however, not to disappoint lovers of the slightly harder, more uptempo, electronic beat, the flip then dishes up two significantly more pressurised techno pieces, the former made in belgrade more linear, the latter reimagined more flamboyant.

loco dices desolat label welcomes uk artist waff for its next ep, a meaty four tracker by the name of hanzz sup. in recent times, waff has really established himself as one of the beacons of main room house and techno around the world. from standout sets at key ibiza clubs to gigs at fabric, london via big underground hits on labels like drumcode, cocoon and hot creations, he is a real man of the moment. the title track opens the ep in fine style with hulking great big kicks reverberating down low as wonky tones and scattered percussion add more heat. barreling along and taking no prisoners, it is a hugely physical drum track with spoken word mutterings piling on the pressure. making just as big an impression but in less direct ways, the shuffling and bubbling karimba is a skittish, busy affair with tribal drums and vocal chants all layered up into something that is sure to become anthemic in ibiza this summer. on the flip side hypnotised works on getting into your brain with tight, scurrying drum and percussive patterns that never let up. its a dense, busy arrangement that makes for a high octane ride. last of all inception takes on more of a house feel, with well swung, low slung drums bringing the groove as hammering hits and frosty synth lines keep busy up top. this is house and techno that makes a big impact from one of the most on point producers out there right now.

portable sunsets is one of the monikers of peter segerstrom: a producer based in brooklyn, us. he previously released his full-length album bless on atomnation, an lp as surfing on 1080p and another portable sunsets lp on deadelus magical property label. order is the follow up of these records and is a dreamy, somewhat lo-fi experimental techno lp. combined with an ancient ambient undertone, ‘order’ is not loosing its club ready vibe. this record floats somewhere between laid-back warehouse techno and the electronica genre - very much representing a unique style: peter often uses his own voice in his productions, programmed through self-created synths in max/msp. vocals have become textures and are used as a synth, pad or soundscape. the combination of genres makes order a perfect record to dream away on at home, as well as to dance to in clubs.

elliot project 003 due out in late may 2017 moves towards a selection of interesting pieces with two originals by greek artist hemo. the first original, entitled ‘clouds’ is a moving electro journey with powerful pads and subtle basslines. ‘dogman’ turns a corner delivering a cosmic styled disco flight with catchy riffs and resonating bass leads. s. crosbie from the dark arts imprint also joins the project remixing ‘clouds’ into stripped back techno and frazer campbell closing off the release with an emotion fueled version of ‘dogman’.

the inaugural release of recently established copenhagen-based label petrola 80, is a fresh 12- ep produced by the danish producer and dj duo lyra. the ep consists of three sample-based tracks, all equally different in sound and dynamics, while still contributing to the same framework. the characterizing energy and playful experiments in sound are sustained throughout the entire record, of which the three tracks vary from gritty, hard-hitting techno to obscure and evolving ambient.

after studying dance, kirikoo des aka nsdos, felt the need to create his own sound in order to explore movement. this is how he started imagining a whole new sonic order, an alternative approach to music – through abstraction. nsdos can’t restrain himself to existing technological tools and softwares, he prefers creating his own mediums: futurist instruments made of old audio converters (carte son), gameboy emulators, pieces of metal dismantled and weld together giving form to surreal machines. surrounded by his hybrid tools, nsdos unravels the rectilinear anatomy of techno music. textures are exploded, sounds mutilated, and brought back to their essence. this sonic odyssey, nsdos initiated in his native town paris before exploring it deeper in berlin – a city that he sees as a giant laboratory in which he experimented the field of possibilities. a huge admirer of the dada and lettrism movements, nsdos can be considered as the offspring of a diy culture. he ranks among his icons artists such as christian marley, stelarc or donna haraway who gave him a desire to push the limits of the body, objects and sound. his alternative vision and the way he reinterprets technological tools have made him one of the most important techno hackers of his generation. nsdos doesn’t create, he regenerates and transmutes music. his creative path is empirical, sometimes organic as he puts sensors on insects, his public in trance, trees – everything that comes on his way – and transcribes their movement into sounds. after three maxis, lazer connect in 2013, female guest list in 2015 both signed on parisian music label clekcleckboom recordings and money exchange published in 2016 on his label standalone complex, his new album, intuition, intervenes as the completion of his organic vison of music. inspired by meteorological stations and according to a principle of « bio feedback », nsdos surveyed the movements of nature, turned into data before translating them into sounds, textures and rhythms. the album comes with a series of 5 videos detailing the creative process of the artist – from recording in the middle of nature to the studio. in intuition, nsdos splinters the boundaries between genres and places techno as a matrix. his album reveals his sense of discipline, one that he draws from his passion from japanese dance buto, as well as his interest for biology, his experimental aura through industrial, sometimes nearly metal sounds. all these elements form the essence of whole new movement, unclassifiable, of which he constantly pushes the frontiers.

personliga artiklar (personal items) is pure electrical energy from the bottom of rage to clean sanded adventurous sound hypnosis. slim vics music mixes sound worlds with clear impact in sound art and darkest ambient, likewise small flirts with underground-based techno and idm. the album is a selection of previously unreleased material mixed with music that only existed on single or remixed versions earlier, personal articles. one of sweden s most prominent artists in the spray painting, rolfcarlwerner, has created all the artwork for the album. the cover to the original painting was painted directly inspired by the album s sound world and was shown at the exhibition outside in 4.0 at the gallery erik axl sund in stockholm winter in 2016.

swedish dj/producer mattias fridell has been actively involved in the techno scene since the 1990s, inspired early on by electronic dance music and the developing techno movement in sweden. now with his first release on suspected music.

her intimate knowledge of techno (particularly the raw and uncompromising variety designed by the likes of jeff mills, mike banks, joey beltram and her collaborative partners surgeon and regis) has taken her to the studio, where she now provides stroboscopic artefacts with a 4-track contribution to this ongoing legacy of ecstasy.

these tracks are inspired by a series of events that happened in a difficult place by the end of the 90 s. everything was possible with the help and efforts (without profits) of many people who believed in this new sound that would change everything and hypnotized us till the rest of our life s. this record goes to all the people involved in that movement, who still stand strong and believe in the true original values of this musical genre called techno.

rendered is the relatively new collaboration between daniel myer (haujobb, architect) & clement perez (14anger), both veterans of their respective genres spanning early 90s ebm and darkwave to more recent destructive techno releases. this fresh offering via fleisch combines both of their signature styles into a colossal and abrasive 31 minute rhythmic barrage.
